Venice Carnival in 2020 will take place 8 to 25 February

Traditional Venice Carnival in 2020 will take place between 8 and 25 February

As the spring sun glitters on the canals of Venice the dates for the next year’s Venice Carnival have already been made public: traditional festival of extravaganza will take place between 8 and 25 February 2020.

If you are up for an unforgettable honeymoon or just up to awaken your senses with delights of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine; if you want to treat yourself to an epicurean or romantic vacation with your loved one; or, if you want to learn about the century-old-secrets of Venice’s Mostra on your own; or, if you feel hedonism and luxury is something you deserve and enjoy – why not? – on your own, do not miss out on experiencing the joy of dancing on the banks of the Cannaregio area of Venice this winter.

The huge Festa Veneziana (Feast of the Venetians) is set to open with the traditional procession Festa de la Maria (Procession of St. Marry). The Festa Veneziana will continue in the days to follow, to include a traditional water parade of various rowing associations, Volo dell’ Angelo (Flight of the Angel) and wine and food itineraries complete with Venetian gourmet-specialties.

Following festive days of dancing, colors, glitter, beauty, and rhythm, the festival will close with the competition for the best carnival costume at the Piazza San Marco.

If you are flying in from overseas to take part in the tradition dating back to the 12th century, do not miss out on the opportunity to visit the nearby region of Istria, which is only a short car ride away. In Istria Venetian customs, traditional cuisine and even local Italian dialect are still reminders of the fact that La Serenissima was a dominant trading and cultural power for over a millennia.

Carnival in Venice coincides with a high season of fine black truffle (Tuber Melanosporum). In France this type of truffle is called 'black diamond of Perigord' and it is abundant in Provence and Istria. Call for our custom-made, truffle based wine and culinary tours for a gourmet experience of a lifetime.
